Dame Laura Knight
Without a prior name (that we can find evidence of) we decided to use this unique opportunity to honour the UK's greatest female impressionist artist, who also happens to have been from Long Eaton: Dame Laura Knight.Dame Laura Knight was the first woman artist to be made a Dame of the British Empire. The War Office commissioned her as an artist to cover the proceedings of the Nuremberg War Crime Trials in November 1945. She died in 1970 at the age of 92.

See Knight's works and learn more about her by visiting: DameLauraKnight.com and ArtUK.org.
